Experience this Reimagined Legendary Adventure: This Free Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Arrives Soon.

Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. A highly anticipated demo version will go live on Jan. 7, offering a substantial glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Importantly, all advancement made within this demo can be carried over directly into the main game upon its eventual debut.

Beyond Just a Simple Remake: A Complete Transformation

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a ground-up reimagining of the landmark year 2000 RPG, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable step away from recent series remakes, such as the recently launched HD-2D versions, this version adopts a charming 3D art style. Environments are designed to look like detailed dioramas, with protagonists sporting a whimsical stylized design.

"Taking into account the 3DS version, the story was still quite lengthy. Consequently, the team came to a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this adventure for today's audiences."

Significant Gameplay Enhancements and Modernizations

The development team has implemented a host of changes to refresh the classic gameplay loop. This encompasses:

  • Streamlined Field Battles: Inspired by modern role-playing games, low-level enemies are now defeated directly on the overworld map without entering a separate traditional combat sequence.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Gamers have the option to accelerate combat animations to rapidly power through less challenging encounters.
  • New Job Mechanics: One brand new job class was added for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the option to take on a secondary vocation, greatly enhancing customization options.

These refinements are designed to address one of the original title's frequent criticisms: its immense playtime. The original main quest could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. The new edition was specifically structured to improve flow and cut down on any repetition.
