The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by having a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant belief and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of society through this intricate and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
